Beware the Rat

Updated
Spotted: Union crews (DC 9, for painters) protesting at the corner of Henry Hudson Parkway and Netherland Avenue, outside the Hebrew Institute of Riverdale. To be fair: Construction schedules and union intricacies are things I know nothing about and I have no idea what their complaint is … or what side is in the right, [...]

Caution: Shaking Hands Ahead

Political campaigning kicks into high gear this week in preparation for the Sept. 15 primary election.
Funny to think there are other seats to fill besides the one Councilman Oliver Koppell is defending from Tony Cassino. There are and one candidate will take his turn in Riverdale tomorrow. City comptroller contender, David Yassky, will be greeting [...]

Down Riverdale Ave.

Took a walk down Riverdale Ave. with the kids yesterday. Fueled by cookies from Palumbo, natch.
Progress? Dunno. We did see some retail-related activity going on. It appears Riverdale Laundry (yawn) will open up next door to Jay-Bar’s  and crews were clearing out fixtures and debris from the old Chinese restaurant a few doors down from [...]

Okay, more reading I’m catching up on … and worth mentioning. I love the Riverdale Press’ Living in Riverdale supplement to last week’s paper. I’ve worked on projects such as this in the past and let me tell you, this is no small endeavor. Kudos to the Press.
It’s a great piece of public service. A [...]

Update: Eliminated scanned images below and have added, thanks to TJ, a proper link to the amNY story below.
I’m playing catch-up here. amNY’s “City Living” section did a neighborhood feature on Spuyten Duyvil a few weeks ago and my better-half saved a copy for me. I tried to find an online version of the story, [...]

Joan in Riverdale?!?!

I’ve got a serious thing for Mad Men. Went to go watch an online preview of next week’s episode (Season 3, Episode 3: My Old Kentucky Home) and Joan mentions to Mrs. Sterling Number 2 that her and her new husband are considering a move to Riverdale … it’s as Joan says, “Close to [...]
